"The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) has recently issued a ruling that will increase royalty rates for radio stations which stream recorded music on the Internet. Public broadcasters pay royalties to songwriters and music publishers, and WFPK wants artists to be paid fairly for their work. But this new ruling has set rates that are 150 percent higher than rates paid in 2005.

The Internet Radio Equality Act (H.R. 2060) has been introduced to nullify the CRB’s decision and recognize the mission of public radio to provide diverse programming."
